I don't think the lyrics are all that important, but Daron combined elements of punk, hard rock, death metal, folk, opera & make it work wonderfully. Very difficult song to sing.ĭaron is honestly a mastermind, there is no denying that.
The song has strings, Serj outperformed himself not only in the outro but throughout the whole song. hell, he even used mandolins in the chorus. It has wonderful melodies, it has the heaviness & the rawness of early SOAD, Daron did a perfect job layering guitars in the intro & in the chorus. The most-prevailing one is that it deals with the issue of substance abuse, which in a roundabout way is true. It deserves to be System's most successful song.
